Soy Is Bad For You
Protein plays a significant role in our body because of its repair and recovery function and therefore this essential nutrient becomes even more important when it comes to packing on muscles. Let’s discuss why soy is bad for you.
BUT when it comes to soy protein, it is perhaps the most overhyped protein.
While soy is said to encourage the production female hormone estrogen and stress hormone cortisol which may lower your testosterone levels(wanna boost your testosterone? check it out), there are much more reasons for excluding soy from your diet!
Soy contains several anti-nutrients that prevent the absorption of various important nutrients.
Some of these are as follows:
These affect the bile production in the liver.
However, they are also known to lower the LDL(low-density lipids) or bad cholesterol.
that is why soy is known as a heart-friendly food.
It impairs the absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc in the body.
Low levels of magnesium and zinc in the body are also linked with low testosterone.
These impair iodine absorption, which can definitely affect the thyroid function.
Hence, soy should not be the protein source you go for.
There are many other protein sources such as whey, chicken, eggs etc.
Even for vegans, soy is not the best protein source.
